I have a recipe for you that's over 100 years old and has been passed down from generation to generation. I wouldn't be sharing this piece of my heritage with you if it weren't one of the best cake recipes in the world.
Ingredients
* 2 sticks of butter (melted)
* ¾ cup water (boiled) * ½ cup sugar (granulated)
* 1 pinch salt (salt grains) and half a tablespoon cinnamon and vanilla extract, if desired.
* 6 to 8 tablespoons flour (all-purpose)
* 3 eggs (medium-large)
* ¼ cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
* 1/2 cup freshly brewed strong coffee
* 1 packet vanilla sugar * 2 tablespoons orange blossom water, or orange liqueur. * Chocolates: Cut into four pieces and roll each slice in sugar before using.
* Decoration: 1 tablespoon cocoa powder and orange blossom water.
Preparation
1) Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Place two baking sheets in the oven to warm.
2) In a medium-large bowl, mix the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa powder, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla extract) until they are well combined.
3) In another medium-large bowl, mix the dry ingredients (sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract) with a wire whisk until they are well combined.
4) add butter and/or water to your mixture in small batches until all of it is added.
