Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder (only if you want them fluffier)
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons brown sugar (swap maple syrup for vegan version)
2 tablespoons softened butter or margarine
3-5 tablespoon chilled water
Preparations
Preheat oven to 375°F. In a bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender, or a fork until the mixture resembles a coarse meal, with some pea-sized pieces of butter remaining.
Add brown sugar and mix just to combine. If needed, add a few tablespoons of water, 1 tablespoon at a time, to form a soft dough.
On a lightly floured surface, cut into 8 equal portions; flatten each portion into an oval shape. Place on ungreased baking sheets and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown on top. Serve warm (or cold), with cinnamon-sugar or honey drizzle.
