Iced Chocolate Swiss Roll

 Swiss Rolls are a delicate pastry that is typically made with Chantilly cream. Its main ingredients are puff pastry, sugar, butter, and eggs. Iced Chocolate Swiss Roll


1 pkg. (22 ounces) puff pastry (frozen) thawed

3 tablespoons cocoa powder, sifted

12 oz. cream cheese softened and at room temperature (or 1 cup heavy cream)

7 tablespoons powdered sugar, sifted

Grated chocolate or other garnishes: dark chocolate (at least 1/4 inch thick), 

coconut flakes, chopped nuts

white chocolate chips


 Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Place a baking sheet lined with parchment paper on top of the stove element. Then cook the frozen puff pastry for about 6 - 7 minutes, or until it is golden brown. 

Step 2: While you are waiting for the pastry to finish, mix cocoa powder and cream cheese in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat them at high speed till they become creamy. Then add powdered sugar and keep on turning the mixer till everything is mixed well. 

Step 3: When the puff pastry is ready, cut it into squares (1/2 inch in size). Place one square on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, covering the surface of the parchment paper with water. Then place another square of puff pastry over it, wetting that piece as well. 

Step 4: Spread the cocoa cream filling in a layer over one side of puff pastry with a knife or spatula (or use a piping bag). Then sprinkle grated chocolate or other garnishes on top of it. Fold the uncovered side over the filling and seal the edges by pressing them down firmly with your hands (use a rolling pin or any flat object to press them down). 

Step 5: Bake Swiss Rolls at 375 degrees F for about 12 - 13 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Step 6: When they are done baking, place them on cooling racks. Let them cool completely before freezing.
